JD.com, also known as Jingdong Mall, is always looking for ways to make its business more environmentally conscious. It is also a leader in e-commerce technology. As the world’s largest retailer, it takes pride in being an industry leader in both. The logistics required for a company as large of JD.com are enormous. The company processes, packages, and delivers billions of transactions a year. JD.com can deliver to 99% of China, and it most of its products arrive within one or two days.
Jingdong Mall introduced some of that new technology at the 2019 CES in Las Vegas, NV. It was the first time the e-commerce giant had attended the show. Visitors could see some of the breakthrough technology that the company uses. Visitors could go on a virtual flight with the drones JD.com uses as they make their deliveries. As well as being carbon neutral, the drones allow JD.com to access parts of the China that are hard to reach. The drones are just a part of the new delivery methods used by the company.
Jingdong is using driverless robot delivery vehicles in two Chinese cities, Changsha and Hohhot. The robots can be loaded up with 30 packages at a time, and they can deliver within a 5km radius of their charging stations. The robots can deliver up to 2,000 packages in a day. The company intends to start using the robots across China over the new months.
Jingdong Mall is also a leader in environmental issues. It is using ‘green’ boxes to package products. Each box can be used up to ten times. The company has even cut down on the amount of tape that it uses on packages. In just two years, it has saved 100 million meters of tape.
JD.com is proud of the many new products and programs it has used, but it will continue to create new ways to make it more efficient and environmentally conscious. Find Additional Information Here.
